A church choir is an integral part of the worship service as per the tradition of the Church of South India. A lot of dedication, hard work and effort commitment is essential to be a committed chorister.

It all began in 2014 when a group of individuals came together and supported the congregation in singing during the weekly worship under the leadership of Mr Jino Mathew Joy with Ruben Mathew on the organ. Later in the year, the choir was dedicated and robed under Rev. Praveen Chacko.

Over the years it has grown in strength and talent under the leadership of three choir masters and the dedication of its members.

The first choir master, Mr. David Anush trained the choir from 2016 till 2022, followed by Mr. David Victor who then served as choir master till 2023. The current 30-member choir is now functioning under the leadership of the Choir Master Mr. Ruben Mathew and Assistant Choir Master Mr. Emil Jacob Issac who also serves as the church organist.

Our choristers meet every week for practice at the Parsonage right after the service. The main responsibility of the choir is to facilitate singing in the Sunday worship service. The Christmas carol service is the annual church service spearheaded by the choir which attracts a large audience from both inside the parish and from neighboring parishes.

Every year, Choir Week is observed with the choir members leading various parts of the Sunday worship service. During this service, the choir members are rededicated, and new members are inducted into the church choir.

The choir actively participates in the annual UAE CSI Choir Festival along with the choristers of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai and Sharjah parishes wherein all the choirs unite for an evening of choral renditions, which is an event to also promote music-related projects of the Chorister’s Association.

The choir also takes part in the Annual Convention and the Harvest Festival activities.
